Awards vary, up to $2,000. The criteria for a Richard Nishimoto Memorial Scholarship includes:
- Demonstrated superior academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Performed at least 40 hours or more of community service
- Applicants must complete a comprehensive application
- Submit a copy of their high school transcript (9-12 grade, 1st semester)
- Completed Permission to Use Image Form (signed by parent(s) if under 18 years of age)
- Participate in an interview with the FOR Scholarship Committee
Each year, South Bay F.O.R. is pleased to honor graduating seniors with college scholarships. These outstanding students maintained rigorous class schedules while volunteering their time and talents to both the South Bay F.O.R. organization and their local communities.
In addition to the Richard Nishimoto Memorial Scholarships, the F.O.R. Executive Board has proudly partnered with six families who, year after year, have generously contributed scholarships to deserving high school seniors. These awards include:
